Verna May Coderre DeAngelis 1938-2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Verna May Coderre DeAngelis, who left this world on July 2, 2024, at the age of 86. Verna was born on February 15, 1938, to Eugene Joseph Coderre and Gladys Verna Macia Coderre, and she grew up to become a beacon of love, strength, and humor for her family and friends.

Verna is survived by her three loving children: Betty Jane Collins, Phillip Edward DeAngelis, and Michelle Anne DeAngelis. She also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Eugene Blais, Steven Blais, Maria Blais, Jayden Skowron, and Isabella Skowron, and eight treasured great-grandchildren: Stephanie Blais, Andrew Blais, Kyra Blais, Opal Gaulin, Johnathan Blais, Anthony Blais, Conner Karpowicz, and Olivia Blais. Known affectionately as "Nana" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was the heart and soul of her family.

Throughout her life, Verna wore many hats. She dedicated her time as a bus driver and later as a home care aide, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her greatest joy, however, was being surrounded by her family and her beloved animals. Verna's home was always filled with laughter, love, and the occasional bark or purr.

Verna had a reputation for being a bit feisty and tough, yet she was also the most understanding and gentle woman one could ever meet. Her mere presence could light up any room, making everyone feel welcomed and loved. And who could forget her sense of humor? At one memorable family function, Verna managed to polish off an entire bottle of my good Scotch whiskey, leaving everyone in stitches and proving that she knew how to have a good time.

In the kitchen, Verna could give Gordon Ramsay a run for his money with her sharp critiques of other people's cooking. Yet, no matter where we were or what we were doing, we always felt her love and support, a constant reminder of the strong bond she created within our family.

Verna May Coderre DeAngelis will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, strength, and laughter will live on in our hearts forever. As we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will always be with us, lighting up our lives just as she always did.

Visitation on Saturday July 13th 2024, 10:00am, followed by a 11:00am Mass at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church, 10 Milk St, West Brookfield, MA .
