Andrew Sanford


Andrew "Andy" Carl William Sanford, 21, of Lunenburg, Massachusetts, died in his childhood home on February 1, 2020.  He was born on September 21, 1998 in Concord, MA, the son of Scott William Sanford and Melissa Ives Sanford.  The lifetime Lunenburg resident attended Lunenburg High School and Goodrich Academy, where he graduated in 2017.  He had recently completed a steam engineering program at Technology Learning Center in Oxford, MA and was preparing for his upcoming state licensing exam.


Andy enjoyed hiking, road biking, driving cars, reptiles, cats, his family dog, Bruno, and hanging out with his friends, who remember him as a hilarious prankster with a penchant for random knowledge.

He had a passion for computers and anything electronic.


Andy often accompanied his father to work as a young child and became a fixture at his father's various businesses growing up, learning the ropes in the car industry, igniting his passion for cars. Andy was always very enterprising, even running a lucrative hot dog stand in grade school.


He was preceded in death by his mother  and his stepmother, Maura Hogan of Stow, MA.


He is survived by his father and stepmother, Genevieve Holmes Sanford of Lunenburg, MA, his brother Jack of Birmingham, Alabama, his grandparents, John and Donna Sanford of Chichester, New Hampshire, his maternal grandparents, his aunt and uncle, Jeremiah and Erin Ives of Osseo, Wisconsin, plus several  cousins and his best friend, Michael Freeman, of Lunenburg, who remembers him as the funniest person he ever met.


A Celebration of Life gathering for family, friends and others whose lives Andy touched was held at Apple Hill Farm and Country Club. A hiking trip to spread his ashes at the peak of Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire will be planned for the Spring along with a service in Osseo, WI in the summer.
