Nathan Hine 1961-2023

Nathan Hine, 62, of Worthington, MA, passed away on Dec. 1, 2023, with Kim, his wife and best friend by his side.

He grew up in Harwinton, CT, where his family raised oxen and competed in 4H and agricultural ox pulls throughout New England.  This lead to his passion and full-time business creating ox yokes and equipment for teamsters, homesteaders, museums and movie props throughout the U.S. and Canada.  He was happiest when training his teams, raising them from calves to oxen.  Nathan was always willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn about oxen and did so right until the end.

Besides his wife, Kim, he leaves his daughter, Kimberly (Steven) Rida; sons Daniel and Joel (Sarah); his stepsons Jordan (Rachel) and Ryan; and his siblings Kathy (Jay) Meyer, Charleen  Chevalier, Duane (Noreen) and Russell (Rachael) as well as 6 grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Arthur and Nancy Hine and his brother-in-law, Bernie Chevalier.

Per his wishes, a party to celebrate his life will be held at the Harwinton Fairgrounds on May 11, 2024 from 2-6 p.m. Donations in his memory can be made to the Harwinton Agricultural Society, 150 Locust Road, Harwinton, CT 06791. Online condolences can be sent to yokemaker@yahoo.com

His family would like to thank his hospice nurse, Kim Soutra, for her compassion and care throughout his journey.
