Violet S. Irish 1927-2026

Violet S. Irish, 99, passed away on August 24 at Baystate Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born on July 16, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York, Violet was the daughter of Arthur and Pauline (Hansen) Smith. She grew up in Stafford Springs, Connecticut, and graduated from Stafford High School.

On June 22, 1946, she married the love of her life, Daniel W. Irish. Together they spent many happy years in Somers, Connecticut, where they were lifelong residents before retiring to Cape Coral, Florida. Following Daniel's passing in March 2024, Violet moved to Orchard Valley in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, where she made many friends.

Violet began her career as a dental receptionist and chairside assistant. Later, she worked as a travel agent with Lord Somers Travel.

She is survived by her brother, Arthur P. Smith and his wife, Sandra; her daughter, Karen Moore; her son, Daniel Irish Jr., and his wife, Donna; her granddaughters, April Moore (Robert Sawicki) and Cortney Sisson (Casey); her grandsons, Daniel Irish III, Dylan Irish (Kristen), and Devon Irish (Tiffany); her great-grandchildren, Jordan Natkow, Lux Sawicki, Christopher Sawicki, and Daniel D. Irish; as well as several nephews.

Violet will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Second Congregational Church, 197 West Stafford Road, Stafford Springs, CT 06076, where Violet was a lifelong member.
