Born in 1942 in New Haven, CT, to Robert Long Clinton and Barbara (Bonney) Clinton, Bob attended Newton, MA schools and UMass Amherst, where he majored in Hotel and Restaurant Management.  He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964-1968 at bases in the U.S. and the Philippines.  Bob worked as a food service director for Marriott Corp. for 29 years, mostly at colleges and universities. He was a member of the SPEBSQSA, a barbershop singing organization.

During retirement he and his wife moved to Asheville, NC, where they lived for 11 years and where Bob played tennis at Aston Park Tennis Club, enjoyed duplicate bridge at the Asheville Bridge Room and hiked in the mountains along the Blue Ridge Parkway.  He was a long-time YMCA member and a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels.  Bob loved bicycling and went on several bicycling vacations. The couple later returned to Massachusetts to be near family.  Bob was an active member of churches in MA and NC.   During his last years, he lived at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, MA.

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dianne; his sons, Michael, Douglas and Erik and their wives; sevengrandchildren; his sisters Carol and Margaret, two nephews, and several cousins.

Bob will be interred at the MA Veterans’ Cemetery in Agawam, MA.  A memorial service will be held for family members and friends at a later date. Donations may be made in Bob’s name to the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA 01040 or to the Michael J.
