South Hadley, MA - Martha Ellen Blaney, 75, of South Hadley, MA, died at home from Parkinson's disease on July 26th, 2025.

She was born in Holyoke, MA in 1949 to Robert and Melanie Demers. Marty attended South Hadley High School before studying nursing at Baystate Hospital, and then received her BSN from Fitchburg State University. Marty went on to work at Holyoke Hospital as an RN for over 40 years.

Marty was preceded in death by her husband David Blaney, and is survived by her daughter Laura Blaney, daughter-in-law Kristyn Lier, sister Patricia (Demers) Gallant and brother Robert Demers. Marty is also survived by "The Plains School Gang", her group of faithful friends of 70 years.

Marty's funeral service will be August 11th at 3pm at the Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Agawam, and a gathering is to follow at The Boathouse/Just One Moor patio at Brunelle's Marina in South Hadley. In lieu of flower arrangements, either a potted perennial to be planted in her memory garden at her home or a donation to Thomas J O'Connor Animal Rescue would be appreciated. Williamsburg Funeral Home was entrusted with her care.
