Gertrude Fischer 1943-2021


Gertrude Fischer, 78 passed away at Linda Manor in Northampton on November 22, 2021. Gertrude was born in Szury, Poland on February 2, 1943 to the late Gottleib and Marianna (Penczek) Fischer. She came to the United State in 1951 with her mother and siblings. In her younger years she was raised in Easthampton; then moved to Southbridge and graduated from Southbridge High School. She loved business; Trudy’s spirit was always entrepreneurial. She owned a consignment store in Northampton also a Rug Doctor franchise in CT along with several investment properties. A major love and motivation in her life was talking about the Bible as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She belonged to the Northampton Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Trudy was an avid gourmet cook and entertainer and loved to travel.

She leaves her sisters Wanda and her husband Wesley Turner of East Longmeadow, Olga Lachapell of FL, and her brother Richard and his wife Linda Fisher of Southbridge MA, as well as her dear friend, Pamela Pomeroy with whom she was in business, along with many nieces and nephews. Five brothers, Edward, John, Emil, Albert, and Peter pre-deceased her.


The Williamsburg Funeral Home was entrusted with her cremation and private burial in St. Johns Cemetery in Westfield. The family will be announcing a memorial service for the public at a later time.
