
David Paul Lubbers of Huntington, MA, age 67, passed to eternal rest on August 12, 2022,
at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with loved ones by his side.
Son of the late William H. and Marie Douglass Lubbers, David was a graduate of
Greenwich High School in CT. He attended the Hart School of Music in Hartford, CT, and
earned a BFA degree at the California Institute of the Arts.
A professional fine craftsman in wood, David owned Tekladoor LLC, designing and fabricating custom cabinetry, doors, and furniture. Also an accomplished arborist and landscaper, his hobbies included cooking, gardening, poetry, reading, and music of all genres. In 1988 he was awarded a U.S. patent for a drumhead tensioning device.
His activities in Huntington included serving on the Gateway Regional School Committee,
singing in the Norwich Hill Congregational Church choir, volunteering at the 2022
Westfield River Wildwater canoe races, and helping those less fortunate.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Douglass Lubbers. Survivors
include siblings Pine duBois (Peggy) of Kingston, MA; Mark Lubbers (Nina Weeks
Bullard) of Dartmouth, MA; Patricia Molnar (Dale) of Marietta, GA; Charles Lubbers
(Susan) of Eustis, FL; Marie Garay (Manuel) of Manchester, VT; sister-in-law Susan
Lubbers of Littleton, CO; daughter Iris Gallagher (Jimmy Powell) of Kingston, MA, and
numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves his good friend Lori Belhumeur of
Huntington.
Per David’s wish, there will be no services, a celebration of life will be held at a future date.
The Williamsburg Funeral Home has been entrusted with David’s care.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in David’s name to the Gateway
Education Foundation, 12 Littleville Road, Huntington, MA 01050.
