David George Robinson

Leeds, MA - David George Robinson was born in Rochester, New Hampshire on February 15, 1944. His fraternal twin brother Stephen George Robinson was born 3 minutes later. They loved each other - of course - but Steve could outrun and outwrestle David, so Dave's energies went into cultivating his smarts and creativity. David's parents Rhenda and Henry also had two older children, Diane and Peter. As a teen, Dave worked for his father in the oil delivery business.

Dave met Linda at UNH. From the beginning they had a passionate relationship that lasted all their lives. They married on November 20th, 1965 in the UNH chapel. Dave and Linda headed to Iowa for more schooling. Dave studied photography and fine art at the University of Iowa obtaining both a MA in Photography and an MFA in Painting. Linda taught art at Cedar Rapids High School.

A goal of Dave's was to become a part of the New York City art scene. In 1971 the two moved into a loft overlooking the east river. Then in 1977, they moved across the river to a Brooklyn loft, again overlooking the east river. While in New York, Dave had a group show at MOMA and several one man shows at SOHO galleries.

Dave worried he would not be good father but that changed with the birth and childhood of his two girls. Amber Carol Robinson, was born on July 6th, 1972 and Holly Odianna Robinson was born on December 11th, 1981. David loved being a father.

Two months after Holly's birth, Dave's twin, Steve, died in a house fire, he was 37. David quietly mourned this loss his entire life.

In 1986 the family moved to Northampton, MA. David built an art studio behind their farmhouse and started a dry wall business, Zen Rock.

David had open heart surgery in 2016 from which he recovered well. However COPD caused many breathless days. He valiantly faced everyday and enjoyed his family and friends. David sold and gifted his art to family and friends and to this day his work hangs in many homes. He continued to make art until his death on April 23rd, 2025. He was an artist and lover until the end. We will miss him.

The family is planning a celebration of life in June. Williamsburg Funeral Home was entrusted with his care.
