Ashfield, MA - Cheryl Ann (Worpek) Thouin passed away in the evening of 18 September 2025.
She was born in Northampton on February 5, 1970 to Daniel Adam Worpek (predeceased) and Mary-Jane (Gosselin) Demos of Feeding Hills.
She grew up in Easthampton, graduated in 1988 from Smith Vocational Agricultural High School in Northampton and started work right after at Gazette Printing Co. in Easthampton and ended her career at the Hampshire County Jail and House of Correction in Northampton.
She married in 1990 to Jammie Wayne Thouin, they made their home in Ashfield where they raised two children, along with numerous cats, dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, chinchillas, rabbits, fish and lizards over the years.
Cheryl loved spending time with family and friends and regretted not doing enough of it. She stashed chocolate, loved Game of Thrones, Dirty Dancing and An Officer and a Gentleman. She received inner peace from Look Park, being in the woods, and music festivals. She enjoyed Melissa Etheridge, Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson and Jelly Roll too. Her guilty pleasure was music from the 70’s. John Denver’s Sunshine On My Shoulders made her cry like a baby and John Lennon’s Happy Xmas (War Is Over) was her favorite song.
She enjoyed the ocean, beach, sun, and the forest was her favorite place to be. She tried her hand at gardening, not very well but gave it her all. Sunflowers were her favorite, they stood tall and proud. She loved the smell of patchouli. It reminded her of earth and fall, her favorite time of year with the colors, smells, mums and pumpkins galore.
If you asked her what her favorite color was she would say purple all the way, after all, amethyst was her birthstone, but the world was full of color all too beautiful to mention especially in the fall. She loved the Boxer canine breed. She said they were human too. She was a kid at heart, loved Dragons, Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang, watching dragonflies take flight, fireflies on a June night, or listening to frogs sing at night. Turtles and snakes made her scream with delight, often rehomed spiders and apologized for doing so.
Her two greatest treasures were her grandchildren Marshall and Mazie Quinlan, the loves of her life, they made her whole, brought her joy, love and laughter. She was so very proud to be their Oma. She said that’s what makes this the hardest thing of all, but she’ll be watching over them and plans on staying by their side.
She leaves behind her husband Jammie Wayne Thouin of 35 years, their son Luke Michael Thouin of Northampton and Charlene Reann (Thouin) Quinlan of Ashfield. Life wasn’t always easy but together they made it work. With a lot of patience, perseverance and love. They made a family. She said they saved her and for that she is eternally grateful.
She also leaves her mother Mary-Jane Demos and her husband Lou of Feeding Hills, her brother Daniel Adam Worpek, Jr., his wife Diana, niece Eliana and nephew Gabriel of Springfield.
Mother-in-law Diane Thouin, father in law Fred (predeceased February 14, 2021), sister-in-law Linda Thouin Quinn and her husband Ed of Easthampton. Niece Ashley Andreski and husband Eric of Connecticut and nephew Nicholas Quinn and wife Katherine and their son Wesley of Longmeadow.
She gives a big thank you to her nephew Nick who was her guiding angel and helped her walk this path.
She always wanted to travel the world, the one thing she never got to do. I’m sure right now she’s flying high over Alaska, Iceland, or Vietnam. Perhaps Germany, Spain or Pakistan too, most likely with her best friend Donna Mae (Gosselin) McAndrew (predeceased August 26, 2010). Then perhaps a long overdue rest on the swing Donna was going to build for the two of them.
She wished for everyone to love more, hate less and just give peace a chance.
Cremation arrangements are left in the care of the Williamsburg Funeral Home.
A private funeral will be held by the family at their discretion.
She asks donations be made to the Cancer Connection, 41 Locust Street, Northampton, MA 01060 or at https://www.cancer-connection.org/donate
