Carla Bee’s (1938-2025) beautiful spirit left her body the night of December 6th, 2025, her final breaths a holy song offered up to God. She transitioned peacefully in her Northampton home thanks to a host of angelic care givers.
Angels are singing to Carla now, just as she sang in six languages to the sick and dying in nursing homes across Massachusetts for 20 years. She called them "her people.” For many, Carla's sweet voice was the last voice
they would hear.
In 1964, Carla gave birth to her son Benjamin; the joy of her life. In the 70s and 80s, she traveled widely with her son and her love of music. In NY, she was featured as a backup singer for Eugene McDaniels in 1971. In LA, she edited scripts for Gary Marshall, producer of Happy Days, Mork and Mindy, and Pretty Woman. Carla sang in choral groups for over 35 years.
Carla’s voice guided her to Danny Shanahan, whom she met in a recording studio in Gloucester. They married a year later in 1987, living a truly joyful life together for 39 years. In 1993 and 1995, they were blessed with their granddaughters, Tiffany and Allison. Gloucester continued to be Carla's favorite family vacation spot, returning yearly for 25 years.
Carla said, "Do not weep! Have a party, have a good time!"
A celebration will take place at Edwards Church (297 Main St, Northampton, MA 01060) on January 24, 2026 @ 11 am.
