Bertha P. Ewick passed away on April 20, 2022 at Renaissance Manor in Holyoke, MA. Her final days were spent surrounded by friends and family. Bertha was born on December 17, 1925 in Portland, Maine to Antanina and Joseph Babijonas. She was predeceased by her mother and father, her dear brother Casey, and beloved husband Pete. Pete and Bertha married after a short courtship and spent 57 loving years as husband and wife. Together they loved traveling, exploring, and eventually retiring to Harwich.
Bertha lived in many places including Portland, Maine, Florida, Worcester, Ludlow, New Jersey, Connecticut, Harwich, and most recently living in Chicopee with her daughter Claudia. Bertha enjoyed gardening, reading, knitting, sewing, shopping, and playing Candy Crush. She loved spending time with her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, bargain shopping at TJ Maxx, and most of all-spending time at the beach.
She will be greatly missed by her sister Lillian Kurtigian of Worcester, her daughters Claudia Jorge of Chicopee, MA and Sandy Guillot of Princeton, MA and her husband Tom Guillot, and her son Richard Ewick of Virginia. Bertha was lucky enough to have 8 loving grandchildren and their spouses: Kara and Jeff Estow, Kristen and Todd Haggerty, Kimberley and Michael Carter, Christopher and Laura Jorge, Thomas Jr. and Julia Guillot, Abbey Guillot and Bob Berube, Erin Ewick, and Ashley Ewick. Bertha was thrilled to be a great-grandmother and very proud of her 10 beautiful great-grandchildren: Caroline, William, Maeve, Anna, Zachary, Finian, Sam, Leo, Logan, Quinn, (and one more on the way!) who loved their GG. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. Bertha will especially be missed by her dear friend Kathy Nadeau.
