James Mandeville (1944 - 2019)


James Mandeville,75, died on May 29, 2019 at the Soldiers home in Holyoke. Jim was born in Springfield MA on January 31, 1944. He had one brother and one sister who are now deceased.

Jim served his country in the Navy from June 1962 to August 1966. He was on aircraft carriers, The Enterprise and USS Forrestal. He traveled around the world and was very proud of his service. A journalist traveled with one of the carriers and wrote a book which included several photos of Jim. Jim and Linda married and had two sons, Joshua and James. Jim worked in retail and at a Suburban Chevrolet car dealership as an Automotive Service Manager. He retired in his 60’s.

Jim enjoyed watching sports and was a big Patriots and Bruin fan. He use to golf and loved to be outside. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed books about the military.

Jim’s good friend, Angela Paradis and her son, Jesse, looked after Jim and they were like family. He was very attached to their dog, Kitty, who came often with Angela and Jesse to visit him here at the Soldier’s home.

Jim was big hearted and gently guy. He will be sadly missed by the Soldiers him staff that cared for him. 

Jim you will be fondly remembered by all who knew you and whose lives you touched. His cremation was entrusted to the Williamsburg Funeral Home.
