Lucy Kate Langelier (1935 - 2016)

FLORENCE - Lucy Kate Langelier came into this world Oct. 9, 1935, on her own terms, and she left us Dec. 29, 2016, the same way. She handled her illness with the grace and grit and dignity that epitomized the way she lived her life. She never succumbed to the "why me," but adopted the attitude of "why not me." She fought so hard until she was just too tired and wanted to sleep. Lucy was an amazing woman and mother who loved her children fiercely and unconditionally, each one so different from the next. Denise, Diane, Donna, Darlene, David and his wife Bonnie, and Della and her husband Mario, will miss her terribly. As Donna said, there will always be a hole in our universe, but never in our hearts. Lucy was fond of saying if she had another child she would have to name it "Damn It." Her 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren will miss their Granny as well. Lucy lived in Arizona for the past 30 years. She started spending half the year in Florence, six years ago where she made a life that was filled with friends that became family, and a llama farm that became home. She liked to consider herself a true snowbird. She loved both her homes equally. Lucy loved to play word games on her Kindle, and no post or picture on Facebook went by without a comment, or at the very least a like. She was an artist. She loved animals and tattoos. But mostly she loved her family. She left an imprint on each of us. Family by blood, family by marriage, or family by friendship, she touched us all and she will be so very missed. The Williamsburg Funeral Home was entrusted with her cremation.
