Recent Tribute

Gail A. LaMagdelaine (1943 - 2017)

Gail A. LaMagdelaine died on May 6, 2017. She was born in Northampton, MA on June 24, 1943 to Peter Onhilevich and Marione Allaire Onhilevich. Her grandparents were Charles and Priscilla Onhilevich and Wilfred and Madeline Barrett Allaire. She leaves her beloved husband of 36 years, Richard LaMagdelaine. The lived in Haydenville since1981 when they established their kennel, Revelation Collies, breeding and showing their lovely collies until their last litter in 2012. They breed many rough and smooth collies bringing friendship and so much joy. The litters of puppies were a large source of joy from the day they were born, with tears, as they left for their "forever" homes. Many lifetime connections were made with buyers and there was a constant supply of pictures and cards arriving telling wonderful stories about their wonderful puppies. In 2011, they achieved a historical milestone as the co-breeder of the first smooth collie bitch to win Best of Breed at the Collie Club of America National. She was a member of Collie Club of America, Collie Health Foundation and supported Collie Rescue.

She leaves her lovely granddaughter, Corina (Rubeck) Barrette who shared her love of animals. For years she accompanied Gail around the country showing the dogs. Corina often traveled to the shows asking to be woke up for the sunrise then she would sleep the rest of the way. Gail was predeceased by four children Richard Rubeck Jr., Steven Rubeck, Kimberly (Rubeck) Williams and Laura Rubeck. Early mornings, Spring through Fall, would find Gail and Richard pulling their boat on the way to fishing in Gill, Ma. An avid fisherman Gail never wanted to quit and go home. Often her sister Linda, who predeceased her, would join them. Many large Bass were lucky enough to be caught and release as she never wanted to keep them. She always practiced "catch and release", fun to catch another day. Loyalty of friends was a priority leaving many lifelong friends. She and Richard were members of the Cornerstone Chapel in Northampton since 1980s, when they were baptized in 1984. Gail worked as a CAN at Linda Manor and later at the VA Medical Center in Leeds. She also worked as a Professional Dog Handler's assistant for many years.

In addition to leaving her beloved husband Richard, Gail leaves Richard's children and grandchildren, whom she treasured: Kevin and Dina LaMagdelaine and their children Henry, Noah and Phoebe  and daughter-in-law Dawn and children: Owen, Elyah and Chloe LaMagdelaine. Their dad Richard LaMagdelaine predeceased her in 2016. She leaves her stepmother Dora Onhilevich of Leeds, MA; Her brother Ed Moline of Wisconsin and sister Valerie Marienci of Trumbull, CT. She leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and so many special friends, cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held on May 27th at 10 a.m. at Cornerstone Chapel at 580 Bridge Road, Florence.
