Mark Curtis Oliver 1958-2025

Mark Curtis Oliver, 67, of Haydenville passed peacefully on October 26, 2025 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital with family by his side. Mark was born on September 1, 1958 in Norfolk, VA to Gilman W. and Cynthia A. (McKnight) Oliver. He grew up in San Diego, CA and Stratham, NH. He graduated from Exeter High School in 1976.

He was a devoted husband to Tina(Davis)Oliver. They met in Germany while both were serving in the U.S. Army. In 1978, they married in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 1980, they settled in Haydenville. He was a proud father to his two sons Eric and Ryan.

Right out of high school he joined the U.S. Army as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. Thus began his career as a very knowledgeable auto mechanic. He worked at various dealerships in the area. He taught at Porter & Chester, Snap-on Tools and the Enhanced Emissions Program. In 1999, he started his own business, Advanced Technical Repair. He rented spaces in Northampton and West Hatfield. In 2010, he purchased his own property on Elm St in Hatfield. Due to illness, he retired in 2018.

He so enjoyed his time as a Boy Scout leader, baseball coach and recently volunteering with the Williamsburg Senior Center meal program.

His life was enriched by his love for his family, gardening, woodworking, camping and traveling to many places throughout the U.S. and Canada. His favorite pastime was traveling to Virginia to spend time with Eric, Kjersti and the boys.

He was a source of love and strength to his family as he lived with multiple myeloma the past 8 years.

He will be remembered for his quiet courage, sense of humor, kindness, integrity, creativity, knowledge and ability to fix most anything. “Pops” as he was affectionately called had an incredible bond with his two grandsons.

Preceded in death by his son Ryan, parents, step-mom Elizabeth Stockbridge, sister Julie Wood, brother Richard Oliver, 2 step-brothers and mother-in-law Bertha Davis.

He is survived by his wife Tina, son Eric and his wife, Kjersti; 2 grandsons Brady and Rhys, sister Deb(Nate)Whitaker, brother David(Pennie)Oliver, 4 step-brothers, father-in-law Maurice Davis, brother-in-law “Butch” Davis, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

A special thank you to all the medical personnel that provided support to him throughout his illness.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Williamsburg Senior Center PO Box 447 Haydenville MA 01039 or at www.burgy.org

A celebration of life is planned for June of 2026 at his home.
