Homer Bissell (1927 - 2018)

Homer Bissell, 90, passed away peacefully on June 23rd, in the home in which he'd been born, surrounded by family. Homer was born on July 31, 1927, the youngest of 7 children to Herbert H. and Mertie E. Bissell and spent his youth on the family's dairy farm. Homer learned to work on machinery and attended Smith Vocational High School to learn automobile mechanics. He spent 39 years at Magna Buick in Holyoke, MA working first as a mechanic and his last few years in the customer service department. During his time at Magna, he won numerous awards for his work. Anita Marie Weigel (1936 - 2018)

Anita Marie Weigel died peacefully in her sleep on the morning of June 19, 2018 at Hospice of the Fisher Home in North Amherst. Anita was born in Heidelberg, Germany, on August 1, 1936 to Adam Weigel and Juliana Baumann. The daughter of a communist father and Catholic mother, Anita and her family experienced the repression, fear, and oppression of the Nazi regime not unlike many Germans of that time. In 1956 when Anita was 19, she came to the United States where she believed that all people had equal rights but learned otherwise. Initially, she worked as a maid while learning English. Frances J. McCarthy (1935 - 2018)

Frances J. McCarthy was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on June 8,1935 to Sarah Frances (Gurley) McCarthy and Donald Joseph McCarthy. She attended elementary and secondary schools in Palmer, Massachusetts and graduated from Palmer High School in 1953. After high school Fran attended Emerson College in Boston receiving a Bachelors degree in Communication. Fran’s professional career included TV work at WBZ, lab manager at Children’s Hospital Boston and a teacher for over 30 years at John Robert Powers Modeling Agency also in Boston.
